Moroccan Deserts
Merzouga desert
The famous desert in Morocco and the one that you probably saw in most pictures. It has been described as a desert theme park due to its enormous dunes of Erg Chebbi. Situated around 578 km from Marrakech, with easy access, and includes numerous options for accommodation.
Agafay desert
A smaller desert compared to Merzouga and Chegaga. It’s arid, and rocky, with mountains and desert-style vegetation. Nonetheless, those landscapes are impressive to any eye. This stony desert is located south of Marrakech, 30 km away and just a 30 min drive, making it a perfect spot for a day trip.
Erg Chigaga desert
Located in Zagora, Erg Chigaga is a common destination for tourists seeking adventures. This wild desert can be explored only in 4WD tours or by the old way of Camel trekking. Situated around 378 km from Marrakech and requires a few hour's drive in the dunes before arriving at the camps.
